You can change your piercing jewelry only after your piercing heals properly.
Changing before it heals properly could result in irritation, infection or delayed healing.
To know your piercing is healed you should not have soreness, swelling, redness, or discharge/crust.
The piercing hole should appear smooth without any rawness.

Earlobe:
6-8 weeks to full heal
Upper Lobe:
2-3 months to fully heal
Daith:
6-9 months to fully heal
Helix, Forward Helix, Flat, Conch (inner or outer), Tragus, Rook:
6-12 month to fully heal
Snug , Industrial (Scaffold), Anti-Tragus:
9-12 months to fully heal
Healing time varies from person to person. It may look healed on the outside, but can still be healing underneath the piercing. Wait until your piercer confirms it's ready before changing your jewelry.

4–6 months (can take up to 9 months)
Septum Piercing
2–3 months
Bridge Piercing
2–3 months
Rhino Piercing (Vertical Nose Tip)
6–9 months
(Do Not change jewelry until piercing is fully healed)

Do Not change or take out piercing until it is fully healed.

Piercing bumps
Piercing bumps are usually caused by irritation and usually go away with proper aftercare.
To get rid of piercing bumps:
Clean piercing with sterile saline solution 1–2x daily
Do Not touch, twist, or rotate the jewelry while it’s healing
Do Not remove the jewelry unless instructed by your piercer.
Sleep on the opposite side of the piercing if it's on your ear.
Avoid using makeup, skincare products, or hair products on piercing.
Wear high-quality jewelry like implant-grade titanium or solid gold.
Keloids
A keloid is an overgrowth of scar tissue. They are a lot less common than irritation bumps and usually require treatment by medical professionals.
To get rid of Keloids:
Get a corticosteroid injections
Use a silicone gel or silicone sheets
Cryotherapy (freezing treatment)
Surgical removal (in rare cases)
Check in with your piercers if you notice a bump that isn't improving after several weeks, there's persistent irritation or swelling, or there is Unusual discharge or signs of infection.
